Chinese Five Spice Maple French Toast

Ingredients
4 slices Light Wheat bread (I used Schwebel brand)Butter-flavored cooking spray1/4 cup egg substitute1/4 cup 1% milk1/4 tsp Chinese Five Spice mixture1/4 tsp Imitation vanilla1/4 tsp Maple extract 1 tsp artificial sweetener (I used a packet of Ideal)2 tsp powdered sugar
Directions
Mix egg substitute, milk, five spice, vanilla and maple extract in a flat, low bowl.

Spray a frying pan with butter-flavored cooking spray. Dredge each piece of bread in the egg/milk mixture, then place onto the pan and cook over medium heat. Watch to avoid burning. Flip to cook both sides.

Sprinkle powdered sugar on top before serving.

    I had this this morning and it was AMAZING. So, so delicious. I think this might be my very favorite french toast (and french toast is just about my favorite food)! I'd make these again in a heartbeat. I made a couple substitutions (i.e. almond milk) but either way--THANK YOU for posting. A+ recipe. - 4/1/12
