Vanilla Poached Pears

1 cup water1 cup unsweetened apple juice1/4 cup honey2 tblsp orange juice1 tsp vanilla extract4 fresh pears2 tblsp lemon juice
In a 3-quart saucepan, over medium heat, combine the water, apple juice, honey, orange juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and cloves. Bring to a boil.
While the poaching liquid is coming to a boil, peel, halve and core the peas and immediately coat them in lemon juice.
Reduce the poaching liquid to a simmer, add the pears, cover, and simmer for 2 minutes. Remove the pears from the heat and allow them to cool in the juices. Remove pears from pan. Heat the juice to reduce it by half. Strain it and pour over the pears. Serve hot or cold.
