Gert's Molasses Cookies

6 cups of flour1 cup of sugar1 cup of crisco2 large eggs1 cup of molasses4 tsp of baking soda3/4 tsp of salt1 tsp of cinammon1 tsp of ground clove1 tsp of ground ginger6 tbs of buttermilk
Makes 60 1 inch balls
Cream sugar and crisco. Add egg one at a time and beat. Put molasses and baking soda in a bowl and beat until light and foamy. Add this to the sugar mixture. Then add flour sifted with spices and with the sour milk (buttermilk). Cool, ball out, bake 400 degrees for 10 minutes on ungreased baking sheet.
Balls can be rolled in sugar before baking, not included in the recipe
Beware of burnt clove. Roll thick to maintain moist.
