Corn Scones

Add 1/4 cup currants or corn, if desired
Makes 8 scones - 1 serving each
Preheat oven to 375.
Melt butter in saucepan. While butter is melting, pour milk into medium bowl and mix in the brown sugar. Add melted butter.
In a separate bowl, combine cornmeal and flour. Sprinkle in salt and baking powder; mix thoroughly. Stir in the currants or corn, if desired. Add the liquid ingredients to the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
On a floured counter top or board, press the dough into an 8" circle about 1/2 inch thick. Slice the circle into 8ths. Separate the 8 wedges and place on an oiled baking sheet.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, until puffed and golden.
