I wonder if you can replace the ketchup with yogurt? Any ideas? - 10/22/14

Very moist. I use ritz crackers instead of bread crumbs, and don't cook catsup or worcestershire sauce into it. The crackers boost the flavor in a way that's hard to describe. Even my former mother in law, who ran a catering business, was in love. The leftovers make great sandwiches too! - 10/25/13

I love this recipe and make it myself. I use bread crumbs instead of bread and I don't use ketchup. Otherwise it's all the same. - 12/27/11

Love this meatloaf! To Snevil1, they goofed on the calories because this recipe makes *eight* servings, not four, each of about 1/4 pound of meat. It works out right that way. - 9/5/09

I leave out the ketchup for even fewer calories it still tastes great! - 4/27/09

The calories are wrong. You only counted 1 egg, 1 slice of bread, and 1 lb of meat. I redid the calories using 100% whole wheat bread, 1 lb of 93/7 ground beef, and 1 lb of 99% fat free ground chicken and the calories were a little over 400 for 4 servings. Other than that it was tasty. - 1/28/09

This is a great recipe. I've been making meatloaf with this recipe for my entire married life...44 years. I've got to say, though, that I would dispute the calorie count for this recipe. If you use 90% lean ground beef, the calories would be closer to 500 per serv, if this is a 4 serv. recipe. - 1/22/09

This is a classic. You can substitute here and there but you still have a comfort food everyone has fond memories of. Great recipe! - 1/14/09

** This sounds good. May try it with a mix of beef and chick or turkey. Like the idea of oatmeal instead of toasted bread crumbs, maybe add mushrooms, garlic etc and maybe make in cupcake pan and use less of the onion soup mix to lower the sodium. Thanks for the ideas 00107 - 1/7/09

We loved this recipe. It was such a hit that I think it will replace my current meatloaf recipe. The onion soups is great. I made this with cheesy potatoes and sauteed green beans. We had plenty for leftovers! Yummy! - 10/17/07
