Made this tonight and loved it! I didn't have celery, so I used celery seed. I also added a little curry powder and Mexican seasoning instead of the thyme. No other changes, I promise! This soup turned out delicious, hearty and filling! I'll be making it often during the cold/rainy seasons! Thanks!! - 9/5/14

Made with leftover ham bone. Delicious. Nice seasoning. Added additional broth so it was a light clear soup to start a meal. - 3/2/14

I used a frozen mirepoix blend (carrots, onion, and celery) and multiplied the recipe by 1/2. It was absolutely wonderful and inexpensive. It was filling and the flavors were incredible! - 1/8/11

I have dumped all of the ingredients into my crock pot. And added the extra spices mentioned by alucer099. We'll eat well tonight! This would be great to make with leftover Christmas ham. - 12/13/10
