South Beach Italian Style Black Bean Soup

1 can black beans1 can pinto beans1 can kidney beans2 medium red bell peppers, finely chopped1 large onion, finely chopped3 celery stalks, finely chopped6 garlic cloves, minced1 1/2 T. ground cumin1/4 t. red pepper flakessalt and fresly ground black pepper6 cups low sodium vegetable broth2 bay leaves1/8 t. baking soda2 T. fresh lime juiceLime wedges, chopped fresh cilantro, diced red onion, diced avocado and/or reduced fat sour cream for garnish (not included in nutritional value)
Place all ingredients in slow cooker except for the lime juice and garnish. Cook for 8 hours on low or 5 hours on high.
Discard bay leaves. Ladle about 1 1/2 cups of the soup into a food processor or blender (or use an immersion blender in a large bowl) and process until smooth.
Return to the slow cooker and stir in lime juice.
Serve hot with your favorite garnishes
