Mom's homemade stew & dumplings

Ingredients
Brown beef in 2 tbsp oil, add onion and simmer until cooked, place in roast pan, add 2 cups boiling water and add boullion. Simmer on 350 for at least 2 hours. Add carrots and potatoes and cook for an additional hour. For dumplings combine flour, baking powder and salt in a glass or steel bowl. Work in margarine with a pastry blender or a fork. Add mild all at once and mix for a soft dough. Drop spoonfuls of dough into stew mixture, allowing space for dumplings to rise. Cover pot and boil for 15 minutes or until done. Nice a fluffy. Serve with hot stew.Add extra salt or pepper to taste.
