4oz tomato chopped4oz red lentil soaked 30 minutes1 onion chopped2 garlic cloves crushed and chopped1 tbsp peanut oil1tsp black mustard seed1tsp cumin1/2 tsp paprikapinch of chili powderblack pepperdessert spoon of tomato puree2 cups water
Fry onions and garlic until soft. add spices and fry 30 seconds. Add tomatoes, cook until pulpy. Dissolve tomato puree in water and add to pot. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 30 minutes until lentils are soft. Serves 4
