Texas Stew

2 pounds stewing beef1 small onion chopped courselygarlic powder, pepper, seasoning salt to taste2 tbsp oilAdd:2 cups tomato juice1 can beef broth1 tbsp paprika2 tsp dried oregano2 tsp granulated sugar1 tsp dried cumin1/2 tsp crushed dried chillies 2 bay leaves
Brown stewing beef and onions in the bottom of a large heavy pot. Season to taste with garlic power, seasoning salt and pepper.
Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat to a simmer.
Simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until beef is tender.
Sprinkle flour or corn starch over the stew and stir in. Stir until gravy thickens.
I serve this over basmati rice.
