French Dressing

(1)
  • Number of Servings: 16
Ingredients
.66 cups Splenda (or other no-calorie sweetner).5 cups water1.5 tsp cornstarch.5 cups canola oil.5 cups cider vinegar.5 cups catsup1 tsp prepared mustard.25 tsp. garlic powder.25 tsp black pepper.5 tsp celery seed (optional)
Directions
Blend the water with the corn starch until smooth, in small sauce pan. Bring to boil and stir until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.*

Then add all ingredients, including the thickened water into a food processor and process until smooth and evenly mixed. Chill and enjoy.
* You can make 'thick water" to use as a substitute for most recipes that call for oil. It is especially good to use to saute vegetables, for example, without adding any fat. I usually make it up in 1 cup batches to have it on hand.

This dressing surprised me. When I read about cornstarch in the dressing, I wasn't very enthusiastic. But after finding all the ingredients and making it, I really like it - the lowfat use is great! The one thing I changed is to use sugar free catsup. - 4/20/16
