2 pounds extra lean ground beef1 tbsp vegetable oil1-2 cloves garlic2 onions1-2 stalks celery1 bell pepper (green or red)1 carrot1 cup mushrooms1 cup frozen peas1 tomato (optional)1 tbsp Worchestershire sauce1 tbsp HP sauce (steak sauce, again optional)garlic powderbay leafchili powderrosemaryother spices if desired2 tbsp ketchup3/4 cup beef gravy5 cups of mashed potatoes (make as you wish)
• Cook Ground beef thoroughly - set aside;
• Chop all vegetables except for the peas
• In oil, lightly sauté crushed garlic cloves, then onion, celery, green pepper, carrot and mushrooms.
• Add cooked beef, peas and sauces, tomato if using
• Add beef gravy and ketchup to desired texture
• Pour into large oven-proof casserole dish
• Top with mashed potatoes to seal the top
• Smooth potato with rubber spatula or spoo
• Bake in 375 F oven 1 hour
Serve topped with leftover hot gravy (optional)
