12 Large (7 if very large) Cabbage Leaves 1 beaten egg1/4 c. Water1 c. cooked long grain Rice1/4 c. chopped onion (optional)1 tsp. Lawry's Poultry Seasoning and Rub 1.5 tsp. Mrs. Dash Garlic & Herb Seasoning18 oz Extra Lean (98% lean) Ground Beef 8 oz can Tomato Sauce1 Tbsp. Brown Sugar1 Tbsp. Lemon Juice
Combine rice, ground beef and seasonings and refrigerate overnight. Add beaten egg and water to ground beef and rice and mix thoroughly and set aside. Immerse cabbage leaves i boiling water for 3-5 minutes, until limp; drain. Place 1/4 c. meat mixture in center of each leaf and fold sides; fold leaf edges over meat and form into roll. Combine tomato sauce, brown sugar and lemon juice, mixing thoroughly, and pour over cabbage rolls. Simmer, covered for 1 hour; OR, bake, covered, @ 350 degrees. Remove cover for last 5 minutes, or until sauce is desired consistency.
