KMarie's Fruit Protein Powder Smoothies

Ingredients
1/2 cup strawberries, sliced and frozen*1/2 banana, sliced and frozen*3-4 T light fruit, plain or vanilla yogurt**8 oz nonfat milk or soy milk1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
Directions
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Using frozen fruit replaces the need for ice cubes but still gives you the thickness of a smoothie. Use other fruits for different combinations.

Blueberries and blueberry yogurt is very good. Mix strawberries with it for a mixed berry smoothie.

Add 1 tsp of cocoa powder (or use chocolate protein powder) with 1/2 frozen banana for a Chocolate Banana shake.

Experiment with soy milk or almond milk (I've used the vanilla with great results and have yet to try the chocolate). Both add additional flavor....the almond milk I tried had the same calories as non-fat milk, but the soy milk was 130 calories compared to the 80-90 of regular nonfat milk.

*You can use fresh fruit instead of frozen - but the consistency will not be as thick as a smoothie.

** What makes this even thicker and more like a sinful frozen treat..... I use about 3-4 T of the yogurt when I make one. I take a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper and line the pan, then drop tablespoons of the yogurt onto the pan and freeze. After frozen, remove them from the paper and place in a freezer bag. Drop 3-4 in your next shake the following day.
