Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Ingredients
Cookie Batter1 Cup Sugar1 Cup Pumpkin1/2 Cup Crisco Shortening1 Tbsp. grated orange peel2 Cups All Purpose Flour1 teaspoon baking powder*1 teaspoon baking soda*1/4 teaspoon salt*1 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/2 Cup Raisins, optional1/2 Cup Pecans, optionalIcing:1/4 Cup Butter2 Cups Powdered Sugar1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract1 to 2 Tablespoons milk or half & half
Directions
Preheat oven to 375

Mix sugar, pumpkin, shortening and orange peel together in a large mixing bowl. Stir in flour, powder, soda, salt & cinnamon. Stir in raisins and pecans. (Self Rising flour omits powder, soda & salt) Drop by teaspoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until light brown (8 - 12 minutes). Remove to cooling rack and ice as desired.

For the icing, melt butter in a 1-1/2 quart saucepan until light brown. Stir in sugar, vanilla and milk until smooth.
