Pumpkin Maple Cream Cheese Muffins

2 tsp. maple flavouring4 oz. cream cheese, softened2 T. packed brown sugar1 ½ tsp. maple flavouring2 c. flour½ c. brown sugar, packed2 tsp. baking powder1 tsp. cinnamon½ tsp. baking soda2 eggs1 ¼ c. canned pumpkin¾ c. milk1 tsp. vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 400.
Beat cream cheese, brown sugar and maple flavouring in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
Combine dry ingredients thoroughly.
Separately mix remaining ingredients until well blended.
Add to flour mixture until just blended.
Divide ¾ of the batter amongst 12 greased muffin cups.
Drop 1 teaspoon of cream cheese filling into center of each cup, pressing down slightly into batter.
Top with remaining batter.
Bake for 20-25 minutes.
