Ingredients
Directions
1 16-oz. can of black beans, drained and rinsed1/2 of a green pepper, cut into small pieces1/2 of an onion, cut into wedges or such3 cloves of peeled garlic2 large eggs1 Table spoon of chili powder1 Tablespoon of cumin1 Tablespoon of Hot Sauce1 Cup of Bread crumbs
Preheat the oven to 375.
Mash the beans fairly well in a bowl.
Finely mince the green pepper, onion, and garlic.
Take the spices and the eggs and beat well.
Mix the pepper/onion/garlic mix into the beans, then add the egg/spice mix and mix that into it as well.
Add the breadcrumbs, start with about 3/4 of a cup and add more as needed until just about the texture of raw ground meat. (You can simply test by taking a bit of mixture in your hand, and try making a ball or patty. It should stick together easily and still be moist, without being too gooey. It shouldn't fall apart.)
Form the mixture into six patties, and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
(You could also throw these burgers on the grill for a holiday BBQ treat.)
Serving Size: Makes 6 burger patties.
Number of Servings: 6
