I make mine a little differently. I sometimes use a pear in place of some of the apple. I sweeten the yogurt with a bit of honey and add a touch of vanilla. Sometimes I use pecans or almonds instead of walnuts. Grapes are a good substitute for raisins. - 1/18/09

Fixed this for a large family gathering. I tripled it, added sliced grapes, used dried blueberries instead of raisins, pecans and blueberry yogurt. (It's what I had on hand) Everyone LOVED it! Very versatile recipe. - 1/18/09

Good idea with the lowfat yogurt in place of may -- but how about a little honey in there for flavor/sweetness? - 1/19/09

This one's definitely a keeper! If I modify at all, I'd use vanilla yogurt just for extra zing. - 1/17/09

sounds delicious. I'll try it with pecans though, because I prefer pecans to walnuts. - 1/17/09

I love this type of salad. It's worth a try. I do think that I will add a few grapes. I love the extra crunch. Adding some white meat chicken makes it a lunch instead of a snack. - 1/17/09

I remember Waldorf Salad from my childhood (as someone else also memtioned. We had red apples (skin on-for eye appeal I suppose), no celery and Kraft Salad Dressing (or mayo). The additiion of celery and substitution of yogurt for dressing may make this version more healthy and less fattening. - 7/21/08
