Butter Beans and Ham

Ingredients
3 lbs ham, diced1 package navy beanswater
Directions
Cover beans with water, let soak overnight. Drain, add enough water to cover again and start to cook on stove top, when beans start to boil, scoop off foam, add 1/2 glass COLD water. Then add a pinch of baking soda (be careful....this will make the beans want to boil over again!) Add diced up ham, and cook until beans are soft. About an hour. This can burn easily, so frequent stirring is necessary.
