Rutabaga Fries

Ingredients
1 Rutabaga, small 1-1/2 Tbsp. Smart Balance (calculated with regular)1/4 Onion powder1/4 Garlic powder1 Tsp ParsleyBlack pepper to taste
Directions
1. Peel rutabaga and slice to desired sizes
2. Melt the Smart Balance in a skillet (preferably cast-iron) over medium heat, and turn to low when it begins to sizzle
3. Add spices to the Smart Balance and mix together in the skillet
4. Add sliced rutabaga to skillet; saute over medium/ low until sides begin to brown (around 5 minutes for each side)
5. Turn off flame and place rutabaga slices in a baking sheet; broil for 2 minutes on each side. Remove from oven and set rutabaga on a paper towel to rid excess Smart Balance
6. Serve hot with catsup or whatever you like

    I really enjoyed these. They reminded my of sweet potato fries. I will make again. Just keep in mind that rutabaga is considered a starch if you have particular diet restrictions. - 7/26/11

    Gross. Too raw on the inside. Use a lid and sautee on low, low heat for a lot longer. - 5/19/11
