1 cup raw carrots sliced 1 cup frozen turnip chunks1 medium onion, large chunks1/2 cup frozen green peas1 lb rnd beef steak or stew beef 2 tbsp corn starch to thicken stew or more to reach desired thickness. Before to mix corn starch with cold water before adding to broth.
Brown beef in fry pan while heating 3 to 4 cups water in slow cooker on high. Add vegetables as you prepare each one. Add beef. Spoon some hot water from cooker into frypan and stir. Add brown liquid from pan to cooker. Cover and let come to a boil on high. Reduce heat to low and let simmer until tender, about 3 to 4 hours or 6 hours on medium. Turn cooker to high or remove 2 or 3 cups of broth and bring to a boil. Mix 2 tbsp of corn starch with cold water and add to boiling broth. Add to stew to thicken.
