Basic Fat-Burning Soup

12 oz. chub of 85/15% ground turkey, browned1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes1 1/2 c. chopped onions3 c. chopped cabbage1 c. diced carrots1 c. diced celery1 c. frozen green beans1 (16 oz.) can refried beans ( no fat ) 1/2 c. wild rice1/2 c. vinegar1 1/2 tsp. crushed garlicherbssalt & pepper6-8 cups water ( enough to cover)
Brown ground turkey with a few herbs, S & P, and vinegar. Set aside.
Fill a large pot with the all ingredients (except the refried beans), and cover with lots of water. Bring to a boil, then turn heat to low. Simmer 30 minutes. In the last few minutes, add the refried beans, stirring in till combined. Then add the ground turkey.
Note -- this soup is so versatile -- use whatever veggies you like ....fresh are better, or frozen.
Just stick to your base ingredients. Be creative with the choice of herbs!.....whatever you like!
My favorites: Mrs. Dash's Chipolte Seasoning, oregano, fresh basil or cilantro ( depending on the mood!), balsamic vinegar, 1 TB. homeade basil pesto.....just be creative.
Serving Size: makes 18 (1 cup) servings
