I had no beef broth and don't know what I am doing so I used a can of chicken broth, a can of french onion soup...haha..and a can of water to replace the 3 beef broth. I used a few extra shots of lea n perrins and left out the sugar, but it came out awesome. I was pretty impressed. - 3/12/14

This was a great recipe for beef stew. I used vegetable broth instead of beef broth and I did not add the brown sugar. My boyfriend absolutely loved it and I will make it again. - 2/5/10

I made this last night. My DH said "that's the best one you ever made"...but he says that every time I make something. Still, it was very good! And quite easy. - 1/28/11

This was fantastic! I left out the celery and added more carrots. Also, after browning the meat, I threw everything into the crockpot. The house smelled amazing all day! - 12/7/10

I didn't add brown sugar and the beer wasn't quite flat yet but it still turned out good. I also added about a cup of frozen corn. Everyone liked it as much as my regular recipe! - 2/11/10

This is one of the best stew recipes I have ever made. It fit the bill for our fall weather. Smelled good the entire time it was cooking. Thanks. - 9/15/08
