Vegetarian Tamales

Ingredients
2 c. Masa para tamales 1 Tsp. baking powder1 Tsp. salt1/3 c. vegetable shortening2 c. vegetable broth1/3 c. your favorite hot salsa (not chunky)3/4 c. cooked black beansCorn husks soaked for 15 minutes in hot water
Directions
Mix Masa, salt, baking powder with broth with a fork making a soft dough. Beat with a mixer the vegetable shortening until fluffy. Add the Masa dough to the shortening and continue mixing for 10-15 minutes until spongy. Set aside to rest for 30-60 minutes. Prepare filling by combining beans with salsa. Assemble tamales by spreading 3-4 Tbsp. Masa on the husk, 1 Tbsp. beans in the middle. Fold husks, tie with string and steam for 1 hour.
