In a small saucepan over medium heat melt butter, add oil and salt. Spread half the butter mixture in bottom of a shallow roasting pan. Place salmon fillets skin side up. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Drizzle the remaining butter mixture over the fish. Roast for 5 minutes and carefully turn the fish. Roast until the interior is nearly but not completely opaque, about 5 minutes more. Remove salmon to a platter and pour pan juices over it.
