hearty split pea soup

Ingredients
64 ozlow sodium chicken or veggie broth2 c dried split peas1/2 c. diced onion1 c diced carrot1/2 c diced celery3 medium yukon gold potatoes, diced1 clove garlicthymerosemaryheavy cream, optional
Directions
dump everything in the crockie and cook for 6 hours . If desired add heavy cream at end of cooking for richness. It only takes a tiny bit of it for the whole recipe to really make it rich.
For more protein serve over turkey smoked sausage.
