Crockpot yogurt
- Number of Servings: 16
Ingredients
Directions
1 gallon of milk (I've used whole, 2% & 1%)1/2 cup plain active culture yogurt1-2 cups powdered milk
Pour 1 gallon of milk into the crockpot. To help thicken the yogurt, add 2-3 cups of powdered milk.
Heat on low til it reaches 180 degrees.
Unplug and cool down until it hits 95-115 degrees.
Take 1/2 cup plain yogurt (it needs to contain live cultures) mix it with a cup or so of the milk. Stir til blended smoothly. Then put back in the crockpot and mix it all up.
Wrap the crockpot up in a big bath towel and put it in the oven with the oven light on. Leave that way overnight or 8-12 hours.
In the morning you will have a crockpot full of yummy goodness!! Put in the fridge for a few hours to cool. If you want thicker yogurt you can strain over cheesecloth.
