Dairy-Free 'Cheesy' Quinoa

1 cup quinoa2 cloves garlic, minced1/2 teaspoon turmeric 1/4 teaspoon black pepper2 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)1/4 cup nutritional yeast 1/2 teaspoon wheat-free tamari (soy sauce)
In a large saucepan, prepare quinoa according to package directions. Just before the quinoa has finished cooking, stir in the garlic, turmeric and pepper, and cover.
Remove from heat and immediately stir in the remaining ingredients, along with up to 1/2 cup warm water.
Serve immediately.

Id suggest that you mix the non quinoa ingreadient and water together boefre adding it to the quinoa - esp the tahini which is sometimes a little tricky to mix. This dish goes well with peas and carrots, or broccoli and mushrooms, and add a little hot sauce or red pepper flakes for some heat. - 6/25/14
