12 cups of tap water1.5 cups smoked turkey skin1 smallish bag of dry split peas (about 3 cups)2 cups dry lentils1 medium onion, chopped1 tbsp smoked paprika2 tbsp onion powder2 tbsp garlic powder3 tbsp salt(optional)1/2-1 tsp ground black pepper
In a large soup pot, add turkey skins with 12 cups of water. Boil for about 45 minutes before adding peas, lentils, onions, and seasonings. Continue boiling until it turns almost like porridge in consistency, stirring often to avoid clumping at the bottom.
