Ingredients
Whole Wheat Flour, 1 cup Spelt Flour 1/4 cup, Flour, white, 1/2 cup (Be sure to sift the all the flours and you must used spelt; this aids in biscuits being fluffy check your local store like Freds, Winco, or Safeway in the bulk section or Bob's Red Mill) Baking Powder, 2 1/2 tsp Salt, 1/4 tsp Flax Seed Meal (ground flax), 1 tbsp Canola Oil, 1/4 cup Buttermilk, lowfat, 1 cup Butter, salted, 1 tbsp
Directions
For Whole Wheat Biscuits
Mix together:
Whole Wheat Flour, 1 cup
Spelt Flour 1/4 cup,
Flour, white, 1/2 cup
Baking Powder, 2 1/2 tsp
Salt, 1/4 tsp
Mix flour mixture and oil together with cut-in tool or fork until little tiny balls form then add 1 cup buttermilk slowly. Mix until it makes a slightly sticky ball. Knead about 5 or 6 times on a floured surface then roll out � inch thick. Depending on how big you want them; use a wide mouth or regular mouth jar ring to cut out the biscuits. Grease up a pan with 1 TBSP butter and place biscuit on the pan. Biscuits can be touching or not depends if you like the sides soft or crunchy. Bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes or until they look done
Makes 6 to 12 biscuits
