Ingredients
2 cups flour3/4 cup sugar3 tsp baking powder1/2 tsp baking soda1/2 tsp salt1 egg3/4 cup milk1/4 cup applesauce1 1/2 cups mashed bananas
Directions
Preheat oven to 350. Grease bread loaf pan, unless it's non stick.

Mix all dry ingredients into a large bowl, make sure to mix well.

Mix all wet ingredients in another bowl, make sure to mix thoroughly.

Add liquid mix to dry mix and stir thoroughly.

Put into bread loaf pan and cook for approximately 55 to 65 minutes. I always start checking the colour around 50 minutes, should be a nice golden brown. Insert a toothpick in centre to check if it's done. Toothpick may be moist from bananas, just make sure it's not moist from batter.

Let bread cool in pans for about 5 to 10 minutes. Run a knife along outside edge to loosen sides.

Looking for something sweet, add chocolate chips, just make sure to add in your calories.

This bread is great warm with peanut butter on it.

I got 12 fabulous and HUGE slices of banana bread. I used 1/2 regular flour and 1/2 whole wheat. I reduced the sugar from 3/4c to a little less than 1/2 and added cinnamon and chocochips. PERFECT! - 5/2/09

You can actually omit the egg and just use applesauce too and cut out even more fat. I cup applesauce to 2 eggs - 2/26/09

Yum! I just made this. I doubled the recipe and made one batch into muffins, adding 1/2 cup pecans, 1/2 cup chocolate chips, and 1/2 cup of coconut. The muffins are great - and the bread is still baking. (Muffins took 20 minutes.) - 3/7/10

I used 1 cup wheat flour, 1 cup white and 1/2 cup splenda as well as egg beaters for the egg. I'm thinking I really cut down on the calories and it was still good! - 1/30/09

I cut down the sugar to 0.5 cup, added cinnamon, and vanilla. I also put 1c of whole wheat flour plus one c of all purpose flour and the result was AWESOME:) Thanks a million for the recipe:) - 2/20/10

This is a great recipe. My husband is not a very big sweets eater, but he gulped it down. If he had more than two thumbs he would have put them all up. I tweeked it also by using 1cup white flour, 1 cup wheat flour, vanilla, cinnamon, walnuts, and choco. chips. I will definitely make it again. - 8/28/09

YUM! Thanks for the tip, the peanut butter went great with it. one slice of bread, 1 T natural peanut butter, and half a glass of milk made a great snack today. Nice and satisfying! - 7/17/08

This recipe is a very good banana bread recipe. I used whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose and granulated sugar because the recipe didn't specify. I found the bread to be a tad sweet, so I'll cut back on the sugar next time. - 6/22/10

This is a very good recipe. I was amazed at the moistness using apple sauce in place of oil and butters. My daughter didn't even know the differance. We will make it again. - 7/20/08

The nutritional information is incorrect on this recipe because only 1/2 cup sugar was listed in the calculations. - 12/14/13

I used 1/4 cups of egg whites instead of the whole egg, skim milk instead of 1%, 1cup of whole wheat and 1 cup of white flour,1/2 cup of sugar instead of 3/4 cup and put in a 1/4 cup of milk chocolate chips and some cinnamon and vanilla. In the oven now so hope it turns out ok! - 2/23/13

I followed the directions exactly as posted and even my high-fat eaters here enjoyed it! - 2/7/13

Wonderful! Only problem is the recipe calls for 3/4 cup sugar, and the calculator has 1/2 cup sugar. I made it with 3/4, but I think I could cut it to 1/2 and still have it taste wonderful. - 11/22/12

My husband LOVED these! My daughter said it was the best muffin she's ever had! I had LOTS of banana's on the edge so tripled the recipe and made muffins, two bundt loaves and one loaf loaf. I also used 1/2 sugar 1/2 splenda and they were great! Next time I'm gonna use half whole wheat flour. - 2/24/10

Fantastic! I did split the mix into two separate pans, though, and added some (1/2 tsp) cinnamon. - 2/2/10

Really good banana bread! I added cinnamon and used 1/2 cup Splenda instead of sugar.Fabulous flavour, light texture, not heavy like some banana breads. Thank you for the recipe. - 1/31/10

I, too, used half whole wheat and AP flour, as well as 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. Wholesome ingredients, but wonderful taste. Had to fend off the preschooler! lol - 1/8/10
