Directions
Whisk milk, egg whites, honey, vanilla and salt in a large bowl. Trim crusts off 7 slices of bread and set aside. Cut the crusts and the remaining bread into 1 inch cubes. Toss bread cubes with apples, cheese, cinnamon and nutmeg in a separate bowl. Coat a 9 by 11- inch backing pan with cooking spray. Transfer bread mixture to the pan. Lay the reserved crustless slices evenly on top, trimming to fit. Whisk the milk mixture one more time and then pour evenly over bread. Press the bread down with the back of a spoon to make sure it's evenly moist. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 8 hours or up to 24 hours. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove plastic wrap and cover with foil. Bake covered for 40 min. Uncover and bake an additional 20 minutes until it's puffed and lightly browned. Turn off oven and let stand for 10 more minutes before removing from oven. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
