Ingredients
Directions
500 grams ground very lean pork, ideally, mixed with 2 tsp Penzey's Italian sausage seasoning--you can use Italain sausage, but it adds a lot of fat1 chopped medium onion3 choppped cloves garlic1 15 oz can diced tomatoes1 6 oz can tomato paste1 16 oz can tomato sauce1 cup water-or more for consistency1.5 tsp basil1.5 tsp oregano1 tsp sugar.5 tsp salt.25 tsp pepper.25 tsp red pepper.25 cup good red wine
Makes 6 big servings, but add pasta calories separately.
Mix the ground lean pork--I grind it myself, with the Penzey's Italian sausage seasoning, brown in a big pot, sprayed with a little PAm.
Add the rest of the ingredients and cook low for at least 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
Serve with pasta, add calories separately for it and Parmesan cheese if you like.
