- Number of Servings: 2
Ingredients
Directions
1 (15 oz) can Libby's Premium mandarin oranges in light syrup 1 bag Gardein Mandarin Orange Crispy Chick'n, including sauce Not figured into nutritional data are the olive oil and the less-than 1/4 teaspoon of cornstarch.
Prepare Gardein Chickk'n as directed on the pkg on stovetop. While nuggets are browning, thaw sauce according to instructions on pkg and add to small pan to heat. While sauce is heating, pour contents of mandarin oranges through a strainer into a bowl, and set the mandarins and bowl aside. Add approx. 1/3 cup of mandarin oranges light syrup to sauce and bring to simmer.
When you have turned, the chick'n pieces to brown on the other side, add the LIbby's mandarin orange slice to the simmering sauce, reserving 1/2 cup of the oranges.
When the chick'n nuggets are browned on both sides, carefully pour the sauce and oranges into the pan with the nuggets and bring to a boil. You are working to reduce the sauce; do not turn up the heat. Do not be alarmed that the oranges fall apart, they will come apart and blend into the sauce.
At this point, remove about 2 TB of sauce from the pan and stir a pinch of cornstarch into until it dissolves and is blended. This is called a slurry. Stir the slurry well into the pan sauce and as soon as the sauce reaches the consistency you desire, it's ready to serve.
