Ingredients

1 cup boiling vegetable broth1/2 cup hot V8 or tomato juice2 cups TVP granules1 medium yellow onion, minced½ cup vital wheat gluten ½ tsp black pepper½ tsp oregano½ tsp chili powder½ tbsp garlic powder1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
Preheat oven to 350F, lightly grease a cookie sheet.
Combine hot broth and V8 juice, pour over the TVP. Allow to stand 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, saute onion in 2-3 tbsp of water until soft, about 6-7 minutes.
Sprinkle in gluten and spices, stir well.
Add soy sauce and remove from heat. Stir into TVP mixture and allow to cool until you can handle it.
Form mixture into small balls, pressing tightly to ensure they stay compact. Place on prepared sheet.
*At this point you can freeze them for later, proceed with recipe while they're still frozen and bake 30-35 minutes instead.*
Bake 20-25 minutes, until browned.
