Ingredients
Directions
Onion chopped2 carrots chopped1 can chopped tomatoes400g minced (ground) beef300ml beef stock1 tbsp ketchup1 tbsp worcestershire sauce4 potatoessmall amount of milk for mashing
Preheat oven at 220C / 425F / Gas Mark 7
Fry the onion and carrot in a large frying pan (or wok) until the onion is soft. Add the beef and continue to cook stirring continuously. When the beef is browned, add the ketchup and worcestershire sauce and stir. Add the chopped tomatoes and stock, stir and leave to simmer for 15 minutes.
Whilst the beef is simmering, boil the potatoes until soft enough to mash (I use the microwave). Mash the potato using a little milk.
When cooked, place the beef in the bottom of an ovenproof dish and place the mashed potato on top.
Put the pie into the oven for 30 minutes or until brown on top.
As a variation you may wish to add other vegetables with the beef or put a little grated cheese on top of the potato before putting in the oven.
