Dal Makhni

Ingredients
1.5 cups black urad with skin2 tbsp canola oil8 plum tomatoessalt to taste1 tsp grated ginger1 tsp grated garlicdal makhni masala1/2 cup heavy cream (optional)
Directions
Soak the dal for 6 hrs or overnight. Rinse well, add about 6 cups of water and salt and pressure cook the dal. Heat a sauce pan saute the ginger, garlic, onions. Add tomatoes to make a gravy. Add cooked dal to this. Add "Dal Makhni" masala (according to your taste) Mash the dal paritally with a potato masher and it makes it creamy without adding the cream. Serve with hot basmati rice.
