Not Quite Vegetarian Stuffed Peppers

3/4 c dry lentils3c water2 bell peppers1 can tomato sauce1/2 c chopped onion1/2 c italian style bread crumbs (you can substitute brown rice)2 egg whites2 scant T onion soup mix1/8 t garlic powderdash black pepper
Place the lentils and water in a microwave safe dish. Microwave on high for 20-30 minutes(depends on how soft you want them). Cut peppers in 1/2 lengthwise, remove seeds and cap. Parboil the peppers.
In mixing bowl mash the lentils just enough to make them sticky. Add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly. Place pepper halves on microwave safe dish and fill with lentil mixture. They will be very full.
Microwave on high for 20 minutes, turning them around on plate 1/2 way through.
