Chocolate Cherry Bars

Ingredients
1-3/4 C all purpose flour1 c sugar1 cup cold margarine1/4 c baking cocoa1 egg, lightly beaten1 t almond extract1 can (21 oz) CHERRY PIE FILLING2 cups (12 oz) semi sweet chocolate chips1 c chopped almonds
Directions
In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar and cocoa. Cut in margarine until crumbly. Add egg and almond extract until blended, set aside 1 cup for topping. Press remaining crumb mixture into a greased 13x9x2x baking pan. Carefully top with pie filling. Combine chocolate chips, almonds and reserved crumb mixture; sprinkle over pie filling. Bake at 350F for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool ;refrigerate for at least 2 hours hours before cutting. Yield 3 dozen.
