Szechuan Broccoli

Ingredients
3 Tbsp. Water2 Tbsp. Mirin (Rice wine or dry sherry)2 tsp. Soy Sauce1 Tbsp. Hoisin Sauce1 tsp. corn starch2 large bunches broccoli3 Tbsp. vegetable oil1 Tbsp. minced fresh ginger3 cloves garlic, minced1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes (optional)1 tsp. sesame oil
Directions
1. In medium bown stir together the water, mirin, soy sauce, hoisin and corn starch. Set aside.
2. Cut the broccoli heads into florets, peel the stems and slice thin. Set aside. (About 14 cups cut up broccoli)
3. In wok or large skillet heat vegetable oil over high heat, add ginger, garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook stiring 30 seconds. Add broccoli, cook stirring until tender crisp, about 10 minutes.
4. Add the sauce, cook stirring until broccoli is coated, about 1 minute. Add the sesame oil.

    This broccoli has a nice flavor, but it is not much of a meal. To make it a meal I served it on a bed of rice. Or you could cut the servings in half and use it as a side dish. - 5/3/10
