Stuffed Cabbage

12 large cabbage leaves1 pound lean ground beef1/2 c. cooked rice1/2 tsp. salt1/8 tsp. pepper1/4 tsp. leaf thyme1/4 tsp. nutmeg1/4 tsp. cinnamon1 6 oz. can tomato paste3/4 c. water
Wash cabbage leaves. boil 4 cups water. Turn off heat. Soak leaves in water for 5 minutes. Remove, drain and cool.
Combine remaining ingredients except tomato paste and water. Place 2 tablespoons of mixture on each leaf and roll firmly. Stack in crockpot. Combine tomato paste and water and pou over stuffed cabbage.
Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.

We make this receipe back home,we don't put tomato paste just water,lemon juice,mint and unpeeled garlics and salt to taste, for the sauce.I also put chopped garlic for the rice and meat stuffing,but mine cooks in 1 hour.We have along the side of this dish a yogurt, dried mint and cucumber salad.:) - 4/1/09
