Kielbasa and Potato Chowder(Crema de Kielbasa y Papas)

Ingredients
1/2 lbs Smoked Kielbasa, cut 1/2 inches pieces(1/2 libra de lielbasa ahumada cortada en 1/2 " de grosor)3 Bacon Strips diced(3 lascas de tocineta en cuadritos)1 small Onion fine chopped(1 cebolla peque~a bien picadita)! Garlic clove, minced(1 diente de ajo machacado)1 1/2 cups sodium reduced chicken broth(1 1/2 taza de caldo de pollo reducido en sodio)1 1/2 cups water(1 1/2 tazas de agua)2 Medium Potatoes, peeled and cubed(2 papas medianas peladas y picadas)1/2 tsp chicken bouillon granules(1/2 cdta. de polvo de caldo de polllo)1/8 tsp pepper(1/8 cdta de pimienta)2 leaves Cabbage or 1/2 cup chopped(2 hojas de repollo o 1/2 taza picadito)1/2 cup half and half cream(1/2 taza de mitad crema)
Directions
1) Brown kielbasa and bacon.

2) Drain and reserve one tsp drippings.
(escurra y guarde una cdta de la grasa)
3) Add onion and garlic, cooked over medium heat 2-3 minutes until onion is tender.
(agregue la cebolla y el ajo y cocine a fuego mediano 2-3 minutos hasta que la cebolla este blanda)
4) In a saucepan, bring broth and water to a boil.
(En una cacerola, hierva el caldo y el agua)
5) Add Potatoes, bouillon and pepper and cook until potatoes are tender.

6) Add meat and cabbage and cook over medium heat until cabbage is soft.

7) Reduce heat add cream and cook for one more minute.

    Very good, I too added more cabbage. Since we are on a very strict low sodium diet I reduced the bouillion by half. Don't know if others would need more salt or not. We really liked it. - 4/19/09
