Very good!! Light but with a lot of flavor. I used fresh shrimp instead of the canned and added a little fresh snapper as well as the cod. I will definitely make this one again. - 10/26/10

My husband says this is "good" and would give it 5 stars! We don't have any other fish chowder recipes to compare it to. I had 2 pounds of cod that I didn't want to eat but knew i needed to cook. I'm glad i found this recipe! I tried to double the recipe w/ half the cheese. Great! Yum! :) - 3/29/10

This turned out awesome. I didn't have all the ingredients on hand but I made do. My father loved it too. He said excellent. I used one medium onion though and added some shredded carrot instead of celery. I also used small fresh shrimp instead of canned. Andd added some garlic to the onions. - 1/27/10

This turned out really good. I added scallops instead of shrimp, since I had some of those in the freezer, and a little corn. I didn't add any salt at all. The house smells so good now! - 3/30/09

I cannot belive this came out so good!!! I made clam chowder once and it failed... miserably! THIS was absolutely fool proof, tasty and delicious. I used blue fish instead of cod and small bay scallops instead of shrimp. I also added powdered garlic for taste. AWESOME - 11/4/07

Fixed this for lunch. I didn't have canned shrimp or I added clams. I also used 1 whole leek instead of onion and I added some frozen corn. So good! - 1/23/21

every thing is a long way from good old new england fish chowder.if your going to spend the time ,effort and money on an old standby ,then it should be authentic,no cheese, no celery. just askon the internet for an old maine fish or clam chowder recipe and be prepared for some great eating. - 7/20/13

I need fast and efficient recipes. This one is great. I added shredded carrot and minced garlic to up the nutritional content. I made this for my elderly parents. They loved it! The cheese could be decreased to lower the sodium and fat and it would still be good. - 3/31/13

I made this for lunch today. Followed the recipe except for omitting the shrimp and substituting tilapia for cod. I don't usually like fish or dishes that contain fish. This recipe is a repeat for me. - 3/26/13

This chowder was really good- I reduced the amount of onions and used Over The Moon Fat Free milk instead of skim- also used 1 cup of cheese and used some OL Bay seasoning(I am a MD girl) - it was good- will make again with more seafood:) - 12/4/12

Tried this recipe with 2 fillets of baked whitefish I had left over from dinner. YUM! I added carrots and substituted rice flour (to make it gluten free). Was a little bland tasting at end so added 1T basil and doubled the salt and pepper. Will make again thx! - 9/10/12

This was delicious! I added chopped up squash and 2TBS of light cream cheese- yummo! I was hesitant about this recipe but I am so glad my boyfriend talked me into trying it. Absolutely delicious! Used whole wheat flour too- perfect south beach recipe!! Definitely will be making this again! - 3/12/12

Loved it! I made a few modifications, tilapia in place of cod, no shrimp and no onions. I also used about a quarter of the cheese and half as much butter (I just added a bit of water to the butter I did use so there would be enough liquid for the roux) and it still tasted rich and wonderful. - 2/17/12
