Hot Cross buns

Ingredients
1 1/3 c milk1 egg, beaten1/4 c butter1/3 c sugar1 1/4 tsp salt2 c whole wheat flour2 c white flour1 1/4 tsp cinnamon1/2 tsp cloves1/4 tsp nutmeg2 tsp yeast3/4 c raisins
Directions
Measure ingredients except raisinginto bread pan, or mixer. Process on dough cycle, for breadmaker, or knead 5 mins. Add raisins to breadmaker cycle as manufacturers directions. Add after 5 min knead to mixer and knead a further minute, or till mixed through.

If baking by hand, sprinkle yeast on milk, and let proof. Add egg, and mix well. Add other ingredients and knead for 10 mins.

For all methods: Let rise till doubled. Punch down and shape into 18 rolls. Let rise again till doubled. Bake 350 for 15 to 18 mins.

    Thanks. They are a tradition here, for Good Friday, and I figured it is a lot better to have a hot cross bun, than a large chocolate Bunny!
