Chocolate cake with chocolate icing

Ingredients

Granulated sugar 6 oz / 170 gMargarine 6oz / 170gMedium eggs (3)Flour (self raising) 5oz/ 141gCoco powder 1oz / 28g*For the icingButter 1 tbspCocoa powder 1 tbspBoiling water 1 & 1/2 tbspIcing sugar 4oz / 113 gVanila essance 1/2 tsp
Beat together the margarine and butter, until smooth.
Add the eggs and beat again.
Sift the flour and coco powder into the bowl and gentle mix.
Pour the mixture into a tin and put into the oven at 180C (we have a fan oven and it takes roughly 15 - 20 minutes)
Let the cake cool
To make the icing melt the butter and add the cocoa powder, mix well.
Then boil the water and add it.
Sift the icing sugar into the bowl and mix well.
Finally add the vanilla extract and mix again.
*If the icing seems very runny add a little more icing sugar.
Spread evenly over the cake
Then either serve with birthday candles on or cut into squares.
This makes roughly 30 squares.
