Ingredients
Directions
3 cups King Arthur White Whole Wheat flour (sifted)1 tbsp baking powder1/2 cup sucanat (or sugar)12 oz. beer (room temperature; I've chosen Sam Adams Pale Ale)1 tbsp sucanat (or sugar) to sprinkle on the dough before it goes into the oven
1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit. Heat the bread pan, too.
2. Mix dry ingredients well, then add room temperature beer. Stir until a sticky dough forms and all of the dry ingredients have been absorbed.
3. Let the beer bread mix sit for 5-10 minutes.
4. Carefully remove bread pan from oven and spray with non-stick spray (a one-second spray of Pam is equal to about 7 calories). Dump the bread dough into the pan and evenly distribute it. (I used my spoon to push it around.)
5. Sprinkle the reserved tablespoon of sucanat (or sugar) on top of the bread.
6. Bake the bread for 50 minutes.
7. Let cool, then slice into 16 as-even-as-you-can slices. Voila!
