Basil Tomatoe Tuna Steak

Ingredients
2 3-oz ahi tuna steak1 T. olive oil1/2 t. salt1/8 t. pepper10 basil leaves (fresh...no substitutions)1/2 fresh tomatoe slices (I sliced sweet grape tomatoes)2T grated parmesan cheese2 oz (4 T) low fat mozzarella cheese.
Directions
Heat 1T olive oil in skillet. Add smashed garlic clove. Sear tuna steaks on all sides...2 minutes each side...sear edges too. Transfer to broiler pan. Salt and Pepper both sides. Cover top well with basil leaves...top with tomato, sprinkle with balsamic, then the cheeses. Broil 4-6 inches from heat for 2-3 minutes..until cheese is melted. Serves 2.

    Loved this recipe! I would recommend marinating the steaks for a bit first...balsamic and a bit of lemon juice works nicely. I also prefer to broil first without the cheese to roast the tomatoes just a bit, then add the cheese to melt. - 1/19/11

    I didn't have fresh basil - so I used dill and sprinkle a touch of lime juice on it. I put fresh spinach on top of the tomatoes ... It was absolutely scrumptious !! - 10/29/09
