** I use applesauce in place of butter to make it more healthy/less calories and they still taste REALLY good and I use whole wheat flour. These are delicious muffins, hey anything with chocolate chips usually is.

***To get 24 muffins, I do not fill the muffin tins. I usually fill them about 1/2 way or less.

How many calories is the recipe with the unsweetened applesauce (since it's less than when you use butter)? Is it 103 calories with the applesauce or butter? - 7/6/09

when I plugged in the ingredients I used the applesauce and wheat flour...so that's where the 103 came from.

These are DELISH!!! I just made a batch, 12 med size muffins. I used 2 very ripe bananas, the applesauce instead of oil, and 1/2 cup of dark chocolate chips. Mmmmmmmmmmm!!! I'm freezing the rest before I cave in for more. Next time, I'm going to try making them gluten free. Definite keeper! - 6/3/08

These were very good, however to get 24 muffins they are pretty teeny tiny. I may double the recipe and make 24 normal size muffins, because they are definitely good. I only used 3 T of semi sweet choc chips and it was enough. Oh and I also just used 1/2C of sugar and they were plenty sweet. - 10/13/08

These were good! I made some modifications:
    *I used 4 bananas since I had 4
    *I used whole wheat flour
*I used coconut oil instead of butter
*I only used 1/3C sugar (raw cane sugar)
    *I added chocolate chips

    ==> about 200 calories/muffin (made 12) - 7/23/10

I forgot to add the chocolate chips and subbed splenda for the sugar but these were awesome!! I would recommend not using paper liners in the muffin tins, I did and they stuck but I'm sure if I just Pammed the pan they wouldn't have. - 4/9/09

I just made these muffins. They are FANTASTIC! The only problem is that they are very addicting. I followed the recipe exactly and made 12 full size muffins. - 1/16/09

I tried these muffins tonight and they are great ! I used whole wheat flour, Splenda brown sugar and applesauce. When I tried to calculate the calories, it came out to be aprox 60 calories per muffin. I am new to this recipe builder thing, so not sure if I did something wrong or not! - 10/18/09

Yum! These were very good, next time I need to add more chocolate chips! I made these with Splenda, an egg beater and the applesauce. I will definitely make these again! - 2/10/09

Really yummy! I subbed whole wheat flour and brown sugar, and added a little more applesauce 'cos I only had 2 bananas. I'll make these again! - 2/11/09

Made these muffins yesterday and they were a big hit. Very moist and delicious. I made 12 regular size muffins instead of 24 mini muffins. Would definately make them again. - 9/2/08

I made these muffins last night and WOW! They are a definite favorite. i made the with applesauce and whole wheat flour. I also added in a few chopped walnuts. They came out incredibly moist with the perfect amount of sweetness. I made 12 muffins and 1 loaf. - 8/14/08

These are delicious! I used half regular and half wheat flour. The recipe only made 18 regular-sized muffins, not sure if that is related to using the wheat flour or not. Yum! - 8/3/08

Yes they are very good. DH liked them. I used 1/2 sugar. applesauce and all purpose flour. After the fact the recipe could use Whole wheat.
There were too many substitutions in the recipe but now I will use the calculator. I do like being precise. DH loves them too. Pat in Maine. - 10/1/17

Very good. Mine stuck to the paper liners pretty badly...not sure why. My bananas were a little over-ripe. But the recipe was very good. I used 1/2 Splenda and 1/2 sugar instead of all sugar. I also used whole wheat flour Next time I might experiment with brown sugar/splenda - 1/31/10

I just loved this recipe. With silicon muffin liners, you can find the cutest sizes. With the ones I found, I was able to make 30 muffins. A great size for a kid's snack. By the way, I did'nt have apple sauce, so I put a small cup of Mott's non-sweet peach medley and 1/2 cup of sugar. Mmmmmmm!!! - 8/31/09

Awesome!!!!! We loved them - 8/4/09

Very good! I replaced 1 cup of white flour for whole wheat and substituted brown sugar for white (1/3c. splenda brown, 2/3 c. reg. brown) I would probably use less regular brown next time, as they are a bit sweet. - 7/23/09

Fantastic recipe! I used half a bag of the mini semisweet chocolate chips, so they really melt in your mouth! I will definitely make this again! - 6/25/09

As much as I love banana, I don't like them mix with other stuffs. I'll wait till my husband and son to taste them but it looks and smelled wonderful. I bought them to the office and it was GONE! - 6/20/09
