Meatless Lentil Chili

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups (1 pound) lentils, rinsed5-6 cups water1 packet (1 oz) dry onion soup mix15 oz can tomato sauce1 1/2 tsp. chili powder1/2 tsp. cumin
Directions
In a large saucepan bring lentils and water to boil. Add onion soup mix and simmer for 30 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer 30 minutes longer. Serve with corn chips and salsa, with cheese, in tacos or as a dip.

Makes 7 one cup servings.

    How can this be 117 calories per serving. Here's my calculations: Lentils 15.5 lb (130 per 1/2 cup, 12 servings) = 1560, Onion Soup Mix = 100, Tomato Sauce 140....Total Calories for recipe = 1800 7 servings = 257 calories - 9/24/11

    The calculations are according to Spark People's recipe calculator. I'm not sure you are estimating the right amount of lentils. The recipe only calls for 2 1/2 cups of dry lentils, not 15.5 lbs or 12 half cup servings. It would only be 5 half cups.
