Savory Meatloaf

Ingredients
Topping:1/2 cup catsup1/2 cup brown sugar1 teaspoon dry mustardMeatloaf:1 pound ground beef1/2 pound ground pork4 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled1 large egg lightly beaten1/4 cup finely chopped onion3 tablespoons light brown sugar1/4 teaspoon black pepper1/4 teaspoon dry mustard1/4 teaspoon dry nutmeg1/4 teaspoon dry sage1/4 teaspoon garlic salt1/2 cup catsup1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce3 slices bread torn into pieces and soaked in 1 cup milk
Directions
Preheat oven to 350. Lighly oil a 9x5x3" loaf pan. Ina small bowl, mix together all topping ingredients; set aside.

Cook, bacon til crisp, let cool and crumble. Meanwhile, sautee onion in bacon drippings.

In large bowl, mix together all mealoaf ingredients adding soaked bread last. Place meatloaf mixture in prepared loaf pan. Bake 45 minutes. Remove from oven and rain excess fat. Spread topping over top and bake another 45 minutes.

If preferred, instead of cooking and crumbling bacon, you can lay uncooked bacon across top of meatloaf before placing in oven. You would then just saute onions in a little olive oil, vegetable oil or butter before adding to meatloaf mixture.
